Texas Hold'em Nights in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Scotland![]() The Magic Agency is proud to announce the launch of it's latest service - Texas Hold'em Nights - as seen on TV! Exciting and fun, a Texas Hold'em Poker Night is suitable for a fund-raising event or corporate entertainment. What We SupplyWe will supply experienced croupiers for all tables, a tournament manager, full size luxury tables, and professional standard equipment supplied with all tables. How Does It Work?A typical night is booked per table. Each table sits a maximum of 10 participants eg. a night with 35 people will require 4 tables. Nights requiring more than 2 tables must have a tournament director (manager). Each person is given £2000 worth of casino chips at the start of the night. If the night is a fundraiser, then each participant will be charged an entry fee. Let the Tournament Begin! Then a Texas Hold'em poker tournament is played using standard Texas Hold'em rules (which will be supplied by us to the organiser before the night)with losing players being eliminated throughout the night. There will be a re-buy-in period allowed for fund raising nights. Event organisers will supply a prize for the winning participant i.e. the person who wins all of the chips, or the person who has the most chips before the end of the allotted 3 hour time limit. The event organiser may wish to arrange up to 10 prizes for the top ten players. The Law Pertaining to Casino NightsFrom the Department for Culture Media & Sport Factsheet about Casino Nights. "Casino nights may be held as part of an 'exempt entertainment', as laid down in section 15 of the Lotteries and Amusements Act 1976. A copy of the Act can be obtained from the www.hmso.gov.uk Under Section 15, the promoters of an 'exempt entertainment' (i.e. a fete, dinner, dance, sporting event or bazaar) may provide as part of the entertainment any 'amusement with prizes', whether it is a lottery or gaming or both, provided the following conditions are met:
Casino nights offered by commercial organisations For many years, commercial organisations have offered to provide equipment and gaming staff to persons organising casino nights. These events are becoming more numerous and may not always fall within the law. In many instances it is clear that, far from being incidental to the overall entertainment, it is intended to be the main if not the only attraction of the event and is, therefore, unlawful. The legality of such gaming depends very much on individual circumstances and only the courts can interpret definitively whether an entertainment is lawful or not. If any doubt exists, a promoter should seek legal advice. Other issues to consider With bankers games, in the long term, the banker can expect to come out on top because he has the mathematical edge. Since these are games of chance, however, it is possible for the bank to lose heavily in the short term. For that reason, licensed casinos are required to maintain substantial cash reserves to cover short term losses. Promoters should, therefore, consider structuring the games in such a way as to limit their downside potential.
