We can honestly tell you that any of the bands listed here would give a marvellous evening's entertainment at any wedding, event, or function. However, every wedding is different and we can give you honest, unbiased advice about which band or bands would match your specific requirements.

If you are interested in a particular band, or type of band, then let us know and we will check availability and give you a quote. We can also arrange a date for you to see the band playing live at a function or wedding.

We do not use "band showcases" as we feel they are artificial and do not show you how a band performs and interacts with a real audience at a real event.

Not a problem! We have experience in arranging Bands for clients based in Europe, Canada, and the USA for Weddings and Functions in Scotland. We can help you every step of the way and supply you with Demo CDs or MP3s of Bands. At the planning stage, we will even put you in contact with the Band Leader so you can work out your exact requirements with him or her by telephone or email.

Don't let this happen to you

The biggest worry for "any" booker when booking a band is whether the band is going to turn up on the night.

Every year, without fail, we get last-minute phone calls from couples, who have been let down by bands.

Some of these informal bookings are made by telephone, email, letter, or perhaps a dubious form of "contract" from the band.

The main excuses from bands are always the same: "We have double-booked" or "We have broken up". So, if we accept these excuses at face value, it would appear that many bands have a disorganised booking procedure or an unethical way of dealing with bookings if the band decides to stop performing.

By booking through The Magic Agency, you can be assured that your booking is secure and the band you book will be there on the night.

To eliminate the chance of misunderstandings or double-bookings we issue contracts to you and the band. Each party signs their contract and returns a copy to us. All the details of your booking are therefore checked and re-checked at the booking stage, by all parties involved. The booking details are also checked when you select your first dance several months before the wedding.

We also include a clause in the band's contract which ensures that they will fulfill your booking even if the band decides to "break up" or stop performing.

Our job is arranging bookings for bands - and that's what do every day of the week, fifty-two weeks a year.

So, when booking a band through The Magic Agency you can relax and leave it to us.

What do bands cost?

There is no "set fee" for a good band and it varies depending on the band. However, as a very, general guide to help you plan your budget: Two-Piece = £500-£600, Three-Piece - £600 -£800, Four-Piece = £750 - £1000, and Five-Piece or more = £1000 - £1300.

Please remember, this is a very, general guide and some bands charge more or less than these fees. Always ask us for a specific quote.

Travelling expenses may also have to be added to fees depending on how far the band has to travel to the venue.

What fees do you charge me for booking a band?

We don't charge you any fees. The band pays us an agreed commission for obtaining the booking and dealing with all matters relating to the engagement.

Won't it be cheaper if I try to book the band directly?

In many cases, bands have quoted bookers a higher fee. This is because although the bands have agreed to a competitive fee structure for bookings through The Magic Agency, they are not bound to these fees when dealing with direct enquiries and they can charge whatever they like.

Therefore, if you contact one of the bands directly, before contacting us, then the fee you are quoted by the band cannot be re-negotiated by The Magic Agency.

However, if you contact us first, then we will always try to get you the best price.

How do I choose a band?

Rather than just asking "what bands are available", we recommend you spend some time reading about the bands and listening to their music samples. This will help you decide on the type of band you like.

All the bands listed below are great bands and have an excellent track record. However, everyone has different tastes when it comes to music - so, it's better if you decide which band or bands you like.

When you have done this, then contact us and we can check availability, get you a quote, and arrange a date for you to see the band.

The Alastair Wood Band - "A Touch of Class"

The Alastair Wood Band is one of the busiest bands in Scotland and is a firm favourite with many exclusive venues - such as Hopetoun House.

Alastair's four-piece band is recognised as one of the best Ceilidh and Scottish Country Dance bands in Scotland and performs regularly on BBC Radio Scotland.

He offers a great mixture of Pop Covers and Ceilidh music to suit all tastes and functions.
