Singers in Scotland

Barbershop Quartet

Singers, Choirs and Barbershop Quartets in Scotland

Barber Shop Quartets

Barbershop Quartet Scotland

Our Barbershop Quartets with their close, unaccompanied four-part harmonies and ringing chords, are among the best in the United Kingdom.

They are able to perform anywhere and can sing a wide variety of songs...

...from very old to very new...
...from sad and thoughtful to happy and humourous...
...from slow and gentle to fast and furious.

They can even perform special requests!

They have sung at Weddings, Dinner Parties, Business Promotional Events, Concerts, Hotel Special Events, Fairs, Fund Raising Events, in Hotels, in Halls, Outdoors, Indoors - and they would love to come and sing for you!

They have absolutely no setup time and can either stand in one spot or mix and mingle with your guests. They can even give you a shave, if you want. How's that for service!

Maeve Mackinnon - Gaelic Singer

Maeve Mackinnon Gaelic Singer

A finalist in the prestigious BBC Radio Scotland's Young Traditional Musician 2005 competition, Maeve Mackinnon is one of Scotland's foremost young Gaelic and Scots singers.

Maeve has toured Denmark and Germany as well as appearing at various venues in London and the Highlands, and she was honoured to guest with Mairi MacInnes, the well-known Gaelic singer from South Uist, during her "Concert by Candlelight" at Celtic Connections 2003.

Also in 2003 she was the opening act for an International delegation for the Cuban Solidarity Campaign and she has sung at three peace rallies in Glasgow and Edinburgh to crowds of up to 15,000 people.

She has performed as a solo artist in the Young Gaels concert at Celtic Connections and on BBC Radio Scotland's popular Scottish country dance-band show, Take The Floor.

Between March and April 2004, Maeve filmed for the Gaelic music series, Beolach, a documentary-style showcase of young musical talent for BBC Television.

Growing up in the city, Maeve's influences have not been confined to traditional Scottish music. Rock, Latin, bluegrass and Irish elements have all helped to shape her musical tastes. Maeve believes in drawing from the Gaelic, Scots and Irish song traditions without segregating.

She aims to combine ancient traditional songs with cutting edge arrangements, in the hope of bringing traditional music into the 21st Century as strong as ever.

With her wonderful voice and beautiful musical arrangements, we think she has suceeded admirably and has helped to bring traditional Gaelic to a much wider and younger audience.

Maeve can perform solo or as a duo or as a trio with a guitarist and bodhran player, for weddings, corporate events, parties, folk clubs and festivals.

Some Testimonials

"Whether singing unaccompanied or in various group arrangements, Maeve's outstanding performance left the crowd cheering for more."
Cambeltown Courier.

"Top Marks to Maeve Mackinnon. This was my first time hearing Mackinnon live. I was hugely impressed by the quality of her vocals and the energy she radiates onstage."

Help! How do I play these music files?

It's easy! Just double-click on the link and Windows Media Player (or whatever music player you have installed on your PC) should run and start playing the music file within a few seconds. Make sure you have your speakers plugged in and switched on.

If you have a Broadband internet connection (which is very fast), then the music files should play very smoothly straight away.

However, if you have a standard "Dialup" connection (your modem dials up to allow you to make the connection to the internet) then you will find the music file stops and starts all the time. This is because your PC music player is trying to stream or play the music as it downloads to your hard drive but your internet connection isn't fast enough to play the music smoothly.

If that is what is happening to you, then all you have to do is let the music stagger through once (it is downloading as this is happening) and then it will play at full speed after that. You can then listen to the the music file as many times as you want.

We hope that has helped you. If not, just give us a ring on 0141 577 6604 and we'll talk you through it.

We're here to help you in any way we can.
