The Jauncey Brothers Band is a group of highly-experienced musicians, who come together in a super-high-energy act with a single, simple mission: to make wicked party music! Versatility's their trademark - plus a fair sprinkling of virtuosity. Between them, they have played in almost every kind of group imaginable. That is why they can so effortlessly switch from from reels to rock, from soul to salsa, and from big band to boogie. Their repertoire is the Department of Serious Boogie. They'll keep you bopping till you drop with their high-octane blend of traditional Scottish and modern dance music. If you want to rock, they've got everything from Abba to Zappa. If you want to reel, they'll play ceilidh or country dance - and they'll walk you thru the steps if you don't already know them. They can provide anything from a four-piece right up to a nine-piece band, but the core of the band consits of: Jamie Jauncey - keyboards & vocals. Jamie first played drums in a Scottish dance band when he was 13. He soon moved on to piano and guitar and released singles as a singer/songwriter. He also did regular sessions for BBC Radio Two with the group Softrock, as well as recording and touring with Peter (Where Do You Go To My Lovely) Sarstedt. Today Jamie earns his living as a writer. Simon Jauncey - guitar, bass & keyboards. Simon was an inch shorter than his bass guitar when he first played Scottish dance music. He later had two rock'n'roll bands of his own and did session work in London, before moving to Caracas where he studied jazz and Latin music with Gerry Weil, one of Venezuela's leading jazz pianists and composers. When he’s not making music, Simon is a photographer. Gillian Duncan - vocals. Gillian has sung professionally from an early age, touring Europe, the Middle East and North America with a variety of folk, traditional and country groups. In 11 years with her own band, The Jacobites, she made seven albums and numerous radio and TV broadcasts. Gillian also does session work, records advertising jingles and writes songs. Pete Clark - fiddle. Pete is one of Scotland’s most sought-after fiddle players for his stylish and sensitive interpretation of traditional tunes. In recent years, he has released four acclaimed albums and guested with innumerable bands and artists including Mike Oldfield, Dougie Maclean, Smeddum, Heritage and the Benach-ally Ceilidh Band. Pete also founded and leads the Niel Gow Ensemble. Laura Carse - percussion. Laura is one of the most talented young percussionists in Scotland. She graduated with distinction from her music degree course at Perth College, where she played in soul, brass and big bands. She also attended the music conservatory in Recife, Brazil. She has recently launched "CrashBangWallop" which provides travelling drum workshops for schools. Some Testimonials "What makes The Jauncey Brothers so popular is their amazing versatility. There can be no other band in Scotland that switches so effortlessly from reels to rock, from soul to salsa, from big band to boogie. If you really want your party to go with a swing, book them right now." - Roddy Martine, The Scotsman. "Everyone is still talking about Hogmanay and how wonderful you guys were ..." "I thought The Jauncey Brothers’ Band was quite simply sensational. Having lived in Brazil for a while I nearly flipped when
you started playing musica popular brazileira!" "A very big thank you to the best band in the world! Yes, really, there can be no better ... we are so grateful to you all." "We received many appreciative comments about The Halifax's IF.com party. Much of that is down to yourselves, driving it along
with such a good selection of music." Click here to see a sample of their repertoire Here are some samples of their work. How do I play these music files? It's easy! Just double-click on the link and Windows Media Player (or whatever music player you have installed on your PC) should run and start playing the music file within a few seconds. Make sure you have your speakers plugged in and switched on. If you have a Broadband internet connection (which is very fast), then the music files should play very smoothly straight away. However, if you have a standard "Dialup" connection (your modem dials up to allow you to make the connection to the internet) then you will find the music file stops and starts all the time. This is because your PC music player is trying to stream or play the music as it downloads to your hard drive but your internet connection isn't fast enough to play the music smoothly. If that is what is happening to you, then all you have to do is let the music stagger through once (it is downloading as this is happening) and then it will play at full speed after that. You can then listen to the the music file as many times as you want.
